As jewellery designers, inspiration can be found all around us. Rebecca’s organic eternity rings inspired by the beach reference the qualities of stone and water as a symbol of tranquillity and balance in spirituality. The collection is called the “Trap” collection and is named after her photography project by the same name. Her photographs capture pebbles wedged in weathered wood and rusty metal by the ocean. These observations led to a collection of side hammered rings with trapped diamonds.
“My work explores snapshots in time from the natural world: Something suspended mid-air, balanced just before falling or wedged somewhere improbable. The age and permanence of rocks and hardwoods, the working of the sea to wear them away is akin to how we work precious metals: the hands that form them into objects. There is life and great beauty in both the activity and in the moment observed: Referencing a place for reflection on our own history and place in the natural world.”
